CLOTHES MAKE THE … CHIROPRACTOR?

A new study by Leduc in January 2025 concluded that what we chiropractors wear impacts our patients’ perception of us, including your Carrolltown chiropractor at Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation. Noted! Scrubs make us look more knowledgeable, trustworthy, competent, professional and comfortable. White coats and formal wear came in second place. For women chiropractors, the white coat was more positive for them than when worn by men. (1) Curiously, this attire issue doesn’t just concern chiropractors. A report of patient perception of surgeons based on their attire in Saudi Arabia noted that scrubs and white coats were preferred by patients for hygiene as well as the image of expertise and dedication. (2) Beyond their attire, chiropractors are working to hone their professional identity to better interact other healthcare colleagues who – according to other articles like the surgeon attire one – also work to refine their image and identity for their patients and collegial interactions. (3) One paper boldly concluded that “although the chiropractic profession may debate internally about its professional identity, the chiropractic identity seems to have already been established by society, practice, legislation, and education as a profession of health care providers whose area of expertise is spine care.” (4) Starting with spine care works for Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation! We know through experience that spine pain relief leads to our patients’ trusting us with other health issues. Bring on your Carrolltown back pain and neck pain! We’ll wear our best scrubs, clothes and/or white coats! Together,  let’s, you and Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, get you feeling better!

Listen to this PODCAST with Dr. Benjamin Fonke on The Back Doctors Podcast with Dr. Michael Johnson about the integration of exercise and The Cox® Technic System of Spinal Pain Management to reduce chronic low back pain.

TIP OF THE MONTH: Exercise for just 10 minutes!

Have back pain? Don’t like to exercise? Gormish Chiropractic & Rehabilitation gets it! What if we told you just 10 minutes can help? When you’re hurting, 10 minutes maybe tempting! A recent study documented that a short 10 minutes, easy-to-perform core stabilization exercise produced significant low back pain relief for chronic low back pain patients. (5) How about that?
